Change is in the air

So last Monday, I had everything done I needed to have done; homework, spring cleaning the closet, dishes, and what have you... So I was sitting around and thought "I'm going to go to Wal Mart and roam the hair color isle" So I did, and this is what happened.......................................

I have been wanting to go dark FOREVER and finally worked up the courage! I love it, I really do. And I must give a shout out to my AMAZING boyfriend, Scott did it all! I just sat on the toliet seat hoping I wasn't making a huge mistake. I, for certain, have a keeper!!

One Year....

The Day I was blessed

My First Christmas

Idaho Falls Temple

Christmas 2007, Our Last Christmas

Today is a really sad day for me, it's been a year my Grandma Hazel has been gone. She is my Mother's Mother, and one of two grandparents I had. I've lost plenty of people on my life, it seems like i've grown up going to funerals since I was in First Grade, but none of them hit me like losing my Grandma. She was my silent support. Never getting mad when I failed a test, never judged when I didn't go to church. She always told me she was proud of me no matter what I did and that she knew I would overcome whatever it was I was struggling with. She was the one who would send a little yellow post-it note to me just to tell me she loved me. She never missed a dance competion, a birthday party, a church or school function. She's the one who always knew how to make life better.

I didn't realize what I would miss out on in a year without her. She wasn't there to call when I passed a test, or to tell her I got into my program, there were no birthday or Christmas cards, no more little yellow post-its. I never realized how much I would miss her little white house with green shutters in Downey. I miss going to Flags West every Sunday and listening to her order Hot Breaded Veil with Mashed and Brown Gravy. My life has a constant void without her telling me it'll be okay. Telling me how much she loves me.

I'm still in the stage where I'm mad. Mad that I'm the only Grandchild she won't get to see get married, she won't get to see me graduate college, and she won't get to see my babies. I know she'll be there, but it's not the same. I miss her so much and my heart is still so heavy from losing her. It will take time to realize I need to progress forward and realize time will always heal the pain. I am so lucky I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and that I know I will be able to see my Grandma again. I'm so lucky God has set a plan for us and that in time we will be reunited. It is through His great love and sacrifice he knows the pain I have felt this last year and for the rest of my life will feel, it is through HIM I will seek comfort.

I miss you Grammy, and I'll love you for always.

PS: Breast Cancer is a silent killer. Please, Please check yourself often and pass along the advice to your Mothers, Aunts, and any other women important to you to get Mamograms. Cancer is like a Dandelion seed, you never know where the wind will take it.....

Spring...?

According to the calendar, it's suppose to be spring... Could have fooled me! I woke up yesterday to 5 inches of snow. I almost died! I had all these plans for being outside, and instead that turned into shoveling! Diesel love loves the snow, he's such a cool weather dog. He literally throws himself into piles and just rolls around. You can hardly shovel b/c he's right in front of you eating what he can before you throw it! He's so funny...

It's also my spring break; no big plans this year! One of my professors was so kind and made a 5 page research paper due the day we come back. Special, right?! So I've just been working at the shoppe and doing a little homework. I was thinking back to the last time I really went somewhere on spring break and it has been Five Years! My dads side of the family took a trip to the Grand Canyon in 2004. I can't believe it's been that long. I loved that trip; my Dad and I took a helicopter into the Canyon. What an Amazing sight.

Almost 2 weeks ago Scott and I took a little trip with our friends to West Yellowstone for a snow expo there. We left early Saturday morning and stayed over. We had so much fun. It was a much needed gettaway with some good friends of ours. We got to meet some pro snowmobilers (from Octane Addictions/SledNX, if anyone knows what that is) and they autographed a sled we bought from them. The weather was perfect Saturday, but we woke up to a blizzard Sunday and had to drive home in it. Luckily, the farther we got into Idaho, the weather cleared up. Here's a few pictures......

Me & Scott :]

This is the whole group

The OA Boys- Sam Rogers & Kourtney Hungerford

Just a quick update on Scott's hand; it is healing up nicely! Thank God. He is so lucky. He thinks it's no big deal, but I was real worried he wouldn't have any movement/feeling in it. He had to go the the plastic surgeon one more time and we won't have to go back until the nail grow in (7-8 months) to make sure everything is okay. He also went to the therapist for range of motion, it's not 100% but he'll be able to function normally. All in all, things turned out pretty good I think!
I think that's it for now! Happy Spring, maybe!

You did what?!

So, I have a pretty easy job schedule, I only work 2 days a week and I don't have to be there till 11am. So I sleep in on those 2 lucky days and Scott knows not to call and interrupt. So I knew something was up when I got a phone call at 8:30 from him. He had this different tone in his voice when he asked me what I was doing. I was still half asleep when I told him I was in the middle of a dream and wanted to know what the heck he was doing calling me (so nice, right??) He proceeded to tell me he was on his way to the hospital. He's pulled this kind of BS before so I wasn't exactly sold on the idea and let him know that. But then he started to tell me how he had smashed his hand in a fork lift and was getting it looked at... I immediatly woke up and a gazillion things started running through my head, over zealous 'wife' I am. I don't know if any of you are familiar with Work Med, it's a off thing of the hospital that Scott's company takes their medical needs to first. So when he got there they told him they were going to transfer him to the ER at Portneuf. It was snowing last Tuesday, but I made it there in all of 10 minutes, and we live decently far from there. So I'm hanging out in the ER, freaking out about the damages. I was getting a little more nervous when he wasn't showing up so I called him, I guess the people at WorkMed (sorry if any of you know someone who works there!) are a little slow at processing things. They decided NOT to send him to the ER, but to send him to Rocky Mnt. Surgery Center for immediate surgery... I felt like such a tard for watching the Price Is Right in the ER for a good 45 minutes... So I ran over to Dr. Willis (A plastic surgeon here in town) office to fill out some medical forms for Scott while he was in route to the Surgery Center. I still hadn't seen him OR the damages. By the time I got to RMSC, I was so frazzeled, I could have pulled my hair out. Some of you know Scott, some of you don't, he is not the kind of person who shows weakness. So he was all happy that his hand was mangled and bleeding and who know what else! We got in, filled out MORE PAPER WORK (don't ever get hurt on the job, all you do is fill out paper work) and they sent him right back to prep for surgery. We ended up filling out more paper work (Blah) and unwrapping the wound. It was horrible. I am not a blood person, Scott has said time and time again he really wants to be a Doctor, but couldn't sit through all the schooling, and he was totally impressed by the damages. I on the other hand about puked. So I said my goodbyes after they got him drugged up and away they wheeled him.

To make a long story a little shorter, his surgery was an hour long and they were able to repair the damages, a few stitches and that was it. He really lucked out he didn't break anything and need pins. We find out tomorrow if he can even use the right index finger and check for any nerve damage.

I don't know about your husbands, but when mine gets a illness or something that restrict movement, he milks every possible thing out of it that he can! He acts like he's had a leg removed.. "Maren, I need this" or "Maren, can you get me something to eat/drink?" I don't know who is being punished more, me or him! What sucks the most is I'm having to cut his meat, and bathe him! He's not able to get that hand wet since it's bandaged and he's never had to use his left hand... Ever tried bathing a 6 foot tall man in a 4 foot baby tub?! So not cool!

RIP Jeremy Lusk

I just felt compelled to write today. I'm sure most of you know Scott and I are avid motocross participants and fans. Yesterday the world of MotoX lost a legend, Jeremy Lusk. He was severly injuried when doing a back flip hart attack indian air, he didn't complete his roatation and landed on the ground face first. He had a possible spinal cord injury as well as brain hemorraging. It's always sad when a tragedy like this happens. He was so dedicated to his work and really set the bar high for others in FMX. It makes me sad to think about the wife, family and friends he's left behind and to be grateful Scott doesn't do near as crazy of things Lusk did. MotoX isn't for the faint of heart, something I've always known. Scott and I have both had our share of brutal wrecks and crashes, next time we're out on the sand saftey will for sure be on our minds, as it always should be but sometimes isn't. I guess he left doing what he loves, it's tragic it had to be televised and in front of hundreds of thousands of fans, live and on TV. Although I never met him or even knew him personally it breaks my heart. God speed to him and his family is in my prayers.
