You did what?!

So, I have a pretty easy job schedule, I only work 2 days a week and I don't have to be there till 11am. So I sleep in on those 2 lucky days and Scott knows not to call and interrupt. So I knew something was up when I got a phone call at 8:30 from him. He had this different tone in his voice when he asked me what I was doing. I was still half asleep when I told him I was in the middle of a dream and wanted to know what the heck he was doing calling me (so nice, right??) He proceeded to tell me he was on his way to the hospital. He's pulled this kind of BS before so I wasn't exactly sold on the idea and let him know that. But then he started to tell me how he had smashed his hand in a fork lift and was getting it looked at... I immediatly woke up and a gazillion things started running through my head, over zealous 'wife' I am. I don't know if any of you are familiar with Work Med, it's a off thing of the hospital that Scott's company takes their medical needs to first. So when he got there they told him they were going to transfer him to the ER at Portneuf. It was snowing last Tuesday, but I made it there in all of 10 minutes, and we live decently far from there. So I'm hanging out in the ER, freaking out about the damages. I was getting a little more nervous when he wasn't showing up so I called him, I guess the people at WorkMed (sorry if any of you know someone who works there!) are a little slow at processing things. They decided NOT to send him to the ER, but to send him to Rocky Mnt. Surgery Center for immediate surgery... I felt like such a tard for watching the Price Is Right in the ER for a good 45 minutes... So I ran over to Dr. Willis (A plastic surgeon here in town) office to fill out some medical forms for Scott while he was in route to the Surgery Center. I still hadn't seen him OR the damages. By the time I got to RMSC, I was so frazzeled, I could have pulled my hair out. Some of you know Scott, some of you don't, he is not the kind of person who shows weakness. So he was all happy that his hand was mangled and bleeding and who know what else! We got in, filled out MORE PAPER WORK (don't ever get hurt on the job, all you do is fill out paper work) and they sent him right back to prep for surgery. We ended up filling out more paper work (Blah) and unwrapping the wound. It was horrible. I am not a blood person, Scott has said time and time again he really wants to be a Doctor, but couldn't sit through all the schooling, and he was totally impressed by the damages. I on the other hand about puked. So I said my goodbyes after they got him drugged up and away they wheeled him.

To make a long story a little shorter, his surgery was an hour long and they were able to repair the damages, a few stitches and that was it. He really lucked out he didn't break anything and need pins. We find out tomorrow if he can even use the right index finger and check for any nerve damage.

I don't know about your husbands, but when mine gets a illness or something that restrict movement, he milks every possible thing out of it that he can! He acts like he's had a leg removed.. "Maren, I need this" or "Maren, can you get me something to eat/drink?" I don't know who is being punished more, me or him! What sucks the most is I'm having to cut his meat, and bathe him! He's not able to get that hand wet since it's bandaged and he's never had to use his left hand... Ever tried bathing a 6 foot tall man in a 4 foot baby tub?! So not cool!

RIP Jeremy Lusk

I just felt compelled to write today. I'm sure most of you know Scott and I are avid motocross participants and fans. Yesterday the world of MotoX lost a legend, Jeremy Lusk. He was severly injuried when doing a back flip hart attack indian air, he didn't complete his roatation and landed on the ground face first. He had a possible spinal cord injury as well as brain hemorraging. It's always sad when a tragedy like this happens. He was so dedicated to his work and really set the bar high for others in FMX. It makes me sad to think about the wife, family and friends he's left behind and to be grateful Scott doesn't do near as crazy of things Lusk did. MotoX isn't for the faint of heart, something I've always known. Scott and I have both had our share of brutal wrecks and crashes, next time we're out on the sand saftey will for sure be on our minds, as it always should be but sometimes isn't. I guess he left doing what he loves, it's tragic it had to be televised and in front of hundreds of thousands of fans, live and on TV. Although I never met him or even knew him personally it breaks my heart. God speed to him and his family is in my prayers.
